respect the cube by justin simoni
Please make sure you have the Flash 4 Player.
This project was actually my third and final project for Computer Imaging, 2010 that I took in the summer of 2000 at the University of Colorado. The class itself was mostly an introduction to Photoshop, so quite naturally I decided to do a full on, interactive Flash piece.
The sides of the cube each have one part of a six part story. The story itself was first written in some girl's journal that I had a desperate crush on and who really didn't have a desperate crush on me. In presenting it here, I put you right in the middle of the story, right when all the lovely sweet nothings turn into some heavy shit. The reason behind this was to engage you, the reader right away and put him smack dab in the middle of some highschool drama. Oh tear!
The shapes that fly in will eventually make up different renderings of my own face, which tries to give the idea of piecing together the story.
At the time, I really didn't know Flash 4 that well, especially the actionscript trickery, or even how I'd have a rotating cube with my face on it. I went mad rotating a cube I made with paper with a different number for each side trying to get it all straight so I could get the idea that was in my head into mi Mac
Thanks, Yous
I must thank my Computer Imaging teacher, Bob Koons for allowing me to skip most of the class time since he knew I had my fotoshop skillz down and allowing me to do whatever I pretty much wanted to do for every single project for the class.
I also want to thank my girlfriend at the time, Danica, who had a digital camera that made this work and took great enjoyment in dying my hair blue while I cried cause I thought I was going to get blinded and also for giving me a couch to sleep on for the summer since I had no idea what I was going to do when they kicked me out of the dorms.
